Gigi’s Cupcakes offers gluten-free cupcakes every day. Each day there is a different selection to choose from. I went on a Wednesday and they had three different gluten-free cupcakes: Wedding Cake, Chocolate Salted Caramel and Strawberry Shortcake. Their daily gluten-free menu is available on their website.
I purchased three gluten-free cupcakes from my local Gigi’s in Littleton, Colorado, two Chocolate Salted Caramel and one Wedding Cake. The box of four had a nice plastic holder for each cupcake and definitely made getting home a lot easier. The service was excellent and fast. They also recommended that I travel with them on the floor of my car. Each gluten-free cupcake was $3.50, which is only $.25 more than the regular cupcakes. This is the best deal I’ve ever seen. I have reviewed each cupcake below, but to give you a hint — so happy I bought two Chocolate Salted Caramel!
There is a disclaimer on their website regarding their cupcakes. It reads, “Despite the fact that we bake and offer cupcakes without gluten, all of our cupcakes are prepared fresh in the same kitchen allowing for the potential of cross-contamination. Because our equipment comes in contact with products containing gluten, our cupcakes cannot be certified as a gluten free product. Therefore, we do not recommend ordering through us if you have a severe gluten allergy or Celiac disease. Please speak with a Gigi’s Cupcakes employee if you have further questions.” I highly recommend that you contact a local Gigi’s if you have any questions or concerns.
Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcake (Gluten-Free)
Where to begin. So yummy! This cupcake is layer after layer of chocolate and caramel. Let’s start with the base, a dark chocolate cupcake with bits of chocolate mixed into the batter filled with salted caramel. The frosting layer is next that is thick, creamy and has a light caramel flavor. Very sweet! A thin layer of chocolate ganache coats the frosting then topped off with a pinch sea salt. The cupcake was delicious and chocolatey. I wouldn’t have known that it was gluten-free. It had a typical cake texture and was super moist. Probably the best Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcake I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to eat the second one.
Wedding Cake Cupcake (Gluten-Free)
What a delightful little cupcake. I love the simplicity of it. A gluten-free white cake topped with a swirled mound of vanilla buttercream frosting sprinkled with white nonpareils. The cake was moist and spongy with no gritty texture. The cupcake stayed together with only a few crumbs falling to the plate below. The frosting reached almost two inches tall off the cupcake and was creamy and buttery. What was also wonderful about the frosting, it wasn’t too sugary. I could have easily eaten all the frosting. The Wedding Cake Cupcake may seem a little plain jane after the Chocolate Salted Caramel one, but sometimes its nice to sit back and enjoy the simple things.
